Robert Romanous is the Director and Lead Sustainability Engineer at Cadence Efficiency, bringing ten years of sustainable design experience. He provides expert guidance on projects of all scales, from architecturally designed homes to large mixed-use and commercial developments. With a strong commercial mindset and a highly collaborative approach, he expertly balances development objectives with sustainability requirements to deliver practical, cost-effective solutions.

Committed to helping clients create energy-efficient, well-designed buildings, Robert specialises in optimising thermal comfort and ensuring compliance with Australia’s energy efficiency codes. His strategic guidance combines sustainability goals with value engineering, allowing clients to achieve high-performance outcomes without unnecessary costs.

Robert’s portfolio highlights his expertise in sustainable design across a variety of major projects. He has conducted assessments for Sydney’s Rozelle Interchange, multiple state-significant and affordable housing developments, and contributed to an award-winning ‘Future Homes’ submission - an initiative focused on innovative apartment design, sustainability, and liveability.

Additionally, Robert has played a key role in energy assessments for schools across New South Wales, including North Kellyville, Waitara, and Ultimo Public Schools, further advancing sustainability in educational facilities.

Beyond consulting, Robert is passionate about industry education. He regularly delivers CPD training on energy efficiency code compliance, equipping professionals with the knowledge to navigate regulations and implement best practices. He has also shared his expertise in a masterclass with the ‘Australian Institute of Architects’ and the ‘Department of Industry, Science, Energy, and Resources’, providing insights into Section J of the National Construction Code.
